The challenge
After bringing together 12,000+ community experts during 2020 and 2021 through their virtual events, CARTO’s Spatial Data Science Conference returned in-person for 2022! This time, the client wanted to bring the conference to both the US and Europe, with two events being hosted in London and New-York across the year.
The solution
To assist with the planning and execution of the conference, emc3 supported the creation of both events by serving as the primary go-to for the client whilst providing a Senior Event Producer to work as an extension of the CARTO team through our Agency Implant service. As part of this, we were involved in all aspects of the event’s production including venue, catering and supplier management.
The result
1,000 world-leading Data Science, Advanced Analytics, and GIS experts travelled from all across the globe to CARTO’s SDSC 2022 to learn all about location-based intelligence. The conference featured over 70 speakers across both events from brands such as Microsoft, Google and BP, and held an array of interactive activities throughout the event—including several workshops to choose from.
Those taking to the stage included Javier de la Torre (Founder and CSO at CARTO), Denise Pearl (Sustainability ISV Partnership Lead at Google), and David Gonzalez (Group Head of Big Data Analytics & AI at Vodafone), plus many more—giving those in attendance the perfect opportunity to learn from industry specialists. And after the conference came to a close, ticket holders were invited to head across to Amity Hall for the “very spatial” after-party!
Testimonial
“Loli worked on our Spatial Data Science Conference events in London and NYC in 2022 and her contribution was outstanding. She is meticulous about her work, great customer centricity (both to us as a client but also to our clients at the event) and she was a big part of our success in turning our event into a vehicle for pipeline generation. Her organisational skills allowed us to deliver high quality events – even with some vendors being quite challenging to deal with. She also acted as a great coach to some of our staff, providing them with insights and experience that they hadn’t necessarily been exposed to yet – which is a great outcome for us. Beyond her delivery, she is also a really friendly and fun person to work with and I am excited to work with her again in the future.” —Florence Broderick, Chief Marketing Officer
