With only 2 weekends left before the big day, there is no time like the present to go and explore London’s best Christmas markets. Working in and around London, our team have explored all the Christmas Markets that London has to offer. This is our top 5:
1. Winter Wonderland (Of course)
This is the Christmas market of all Christmas markets, if you’ve not been, then you NEED to go! Not only is it fun for families, it’s perfect for nights out with your friends. It has everything you need to have a great time, including a Bavarian village with a huge beer tent, with enough beer to keep you occupied all evening. There are games and rides galore and food and drink from around all corners of the world – and if you’re are up for a bit of shopping, then there are market stalls for you to buy those last minute gifts for your loved ones.
2. Southbank Centre Christmas Market
Firstly these Christmas markets are instantly a winner for its location, right alongside the Thames! There are many vendors selling global street food, craft beers, cocktails and artisan gifts. Not only this, but this market is providing experiences to thrill and excite, you can either watch Circus 1903, which is about a turn-of-the-century circus including sensational animal puppetry. Or bring the family to see Rumpelstiltskin, a fantastic fairy tale with theatrical spectacle, rocking music and supreme silliness.
3. Christmas by the River at London Bridge
Overlooking Tower Bridge and The Tower of London, explore the twinkling wooden cabins and savour seasonal fare, right in the heart of this glorious city. You can take part in food and drink tastings, join free craft workshops or pick up unique presents, stocking fillers and edible treats from the Christmas market’s independent traders.
4. Christmas Markets in Leicester Square
This market is small, but perfectly formed – it has everything you need with 25 stalls having an array of crafts and tempting treats.
But wait, head inside the 1920’s spiegeltent to catch a display of festive entertainment. Watch drag-meets-circus troupe Briefs’ new show Close Encounters, or catch The Showstoppers’ Christmas Kids Show! You can also drop by Santa’s grotto and meet the man himself, right up until Christmas Eve in the square’s enchanting festive atmosphere.
5. Winterville Clapham Common
Head south of the river to experience Winterville! It often gets referred to as Winter Wonderland’s younger sibling, and it’s just that – but with different activities to help you get into the festive spirit!
Spend time getting lost in a maze that will lead you to the enchanted forest cinema, but the question is can you find the hidden tequila bar? You can grab a ringside view at a Mexican wrestling match, or go back to your childhood with a roller disco and crazy golf!
If that doesn’t take your fancy then Winterville has a craft fair and indoor market where you can find handmade gifts to suit every taste. Or try food, craft beer and cocktails from Street Feast’s eclectic line-up of vendors and food trucks.
We hope you take our advice and visit one of these wonderful Christmas markets, but whatever you do, we wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year!
