The challenge
The second European Alumni Conference builds upon the proud legacy of the regional conferences that NYU have hosted over the past eight years. With a network of over 600,00 alumni worldwide, New York University wanted to bring their 2023 European Alumni Conference to Paris to celebrate their community of over 13,000 graduates who are living and working in Europe.
The solution
To signify the challenges involved in gathering hundreds of attendees across several time zones in a post-pandemic world, the theme of the conference was born: Innovation. The main goal of the event was to create a weekend of networking, prominent speakers, and experiential activities, whilst discussing how technological advances are changing our everyday habits and how they will shape our future lives.
The emc3 team was brought in during the planning stage of the event to assist with the overall project management and execution. As part of this, we were involved in several aspects of the event including venue management, arranging caterers, sourcing vendors, and planning activities.
The result
The three-day celebration kicked off with the NYU community reception which brought 150 people to the France-Amérique, Hotel le Marois, where they would get ready for the exciting weekend ahead with evening drinks, food, and networking with their fellow violets.
After a wonderful overnight stay in the city of lights, guests were invited to the Automobile Club de France where they attended a delicious buffet lunch before heading inside the auditorium for the conference itself. Here, audience members heard from a variety of prominent speakers and panels who discussed a range of emerging topics from cryptocurrency to NFTs, to the future of tech.
And to end the weekend on a high, the final day offered those in attendance the opportunity to explore the city of Paris through a selection of experiential activity choices including a pastry tour of the historic district of le Marais, the Order of the Templars, the large-scale urban planning projects of Henri IV, a VR experience of Notre Dame, and even more!
